![]() ![]() ![]() Grimes Golden originated in West Virginia in 1832 on the farm of Thomas Grimes. This medium to large fruit ripens to a bright yellow green with fine russet dots in mid September. Its yellow flesh is crisp and fine grained. Grimes Golden apples are rich, distinctive, aromatic, and spicy in flavor. This hearty eating taste makes it perfect for applesauce. This apple also has superior dessert qualities. It is an excellent, juicy, cider apple; good for all kitchen uses except baking. Keeps relatively well in cold storage.
