Positive group dynamics are very important to us. We are making every effort to establish a balance of undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers that is conducive to high-quality research and training. We strive for an engaging and creative research environment within our group and count on active participation of each member of the group. We expect openness, tolerance, and high level of commitment to excellence from each member of the group.
Research assistantships:
Two research assistant positions are available for students interested in pursuing an MS or PhD:
- Examination of soybean responses to water deficit stress.
- Agronomy / physiology of switchgrass and high biomass sorghum for biofuel production
Undergraduate Students:
Internships and honors research are ideal ways to acquire research experience and laboratory and/or field skills. Working under the supervision of experienced group members, you will learn hands-on research skills by pursuing a specific research question. You will gain insights into numerous research projects through your interactions with our team and participating in our lab meetings. Graduate Students:
Research assistant positions in our group are contingent upon availability of funding. Most graduate research assistantships in our group are funded through specific grants. However, students interested in our program may explore assistantship / fellowship opportunities through the Division of Plant Sciences, the
Interdisciplinary Plant Group or
Life Sciences Center.

Postdoctoral Scientists:
Positions for postdoctoral research associates are contingent upon availability of funding. However, we welcome applications at any time. The applications should include a curriculum vitae, list of refereed publications, contact information of three references, and a brief statement of research interest. Applications of highly motivated scientists with documented productivity will receive preferential consideration.
If you are interested in developing a postdoctoral research project in the areas of plant adaptations to drought, soil fertility and plant nutrition, or production of bioenergy feedstocks you are encouraged to contact Felix Fritschi to explore opportunities of common interest.
