Description
David Sleper focuses his research on the breeding and genetics of soybean. Primary objectives on soybean include breeding for resistance to the soybean cyst nematode, Phytophthora rot and other biotic and abiotic stresses. Considerable emphasis is placed on identifying new sources of resistance and mapping QTLs for resistance to the soybean cyst nematode. Emphasis is also placed on the breeding and genetics of modifying oil and protein in soybean. He teaches a course in plant breeding and is heavily involved with graduate education.
