Graduate Admissions
You may begin your application for graduate study by going to the graduate school Web site to complete the formal University application. You may also use this Web site to provide most of the supplementary documentation described below.
- Graduate School at MU: includes the online application and information on general admissions requirements and international applicants.
Next, assemble the following supporting documents:
- Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores.
- Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores, if you are from a country where English is not an official language.
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work.
- Three letters of reference from people who can comment on your ability to succeed in graduate school.
- A brief resume (one to two pages).
- A clearly written, one- to two-page motivation statement that outlines your educational and career goals.
Finally, start contacting individual faculty members about their research programs. We'd like to match you with a potential adviser as early in the application process as possible.
Applications received by Jan. 15 of each year will receive the greatest consideration.
Applications will also be considered throughout the year depending on availability of assistantship funding.
You are encouraged to contact us at any time with questions as you prepare your application.
