| Search the Public Database | |
| There are three fields you can use to search and view Grazing Wedge Data. | |
| 1. | SELECT a YEAR or leave with the default. Year is an optional field, it automatically defaults to the current year but can be changed to view past years data. |
| 2. | SELECT a FARM. Farm is a required field for any search and lists various farms that have chosen to share their data with the public. This field will only show farms that have input data for the year chosen in step 1. |
| 3. | SELECT a DATE. Date is a required field to view a Grazing Wedge, but is not required to view a year-to-date Summary Table. |
| 4. | Once you have selected the appropriate fields you may view a year-to-date SUMMARY TABLE or GRAZING WEDGE Report. Press the corresponding button to view the data.
If you receive an error message in red please correct the error and resubmit. If the data in the pull-dwon menu's is not correct press the RESET button to refresh the Search Form. |
| Create a User Account | |
| In order to input data and view reports for your own farm(s) you will need to create your own user account. | |
| 1. | Select the Create New Account link form the main site. |
| 2. | Input your data into the form, all fields are required. |
| 3. | Click SUBMIT |
| If you receive an error message in red please correct the error and resubmit. If the error says the farmID (ex. Smith Farm) is already in use by another user, you will have to select another farmID to use (ex. JSmith Farm). | |
| 4. | After successfully creating an account you will immediately be able to insert your data into the grazing wedge calculator. |
| Input/View/Edit your Data | |
| 1. | Login to the database from the Grazing Wedge home page. |
| If you have forgotten your password select the FORGOT PASSWORD link to have your login information emailed to you. You will need to have access to the email account you used to create the account in order to retreive your password. If you no longer have access to that email account, please use the REPORT PROBLEMS link to email the webmaster. | |
| Input New Farm Data | |
| 1. | SELECT your FARM from the pull down list, for the data you are adding. If your farm is not listed in the pulldown menu, click the ADD FARM link and add the new farm to your list of farmid's. Be sure to seperate each individual farm with a comma. If you receive an error messagein red while updating your user information please correct the error and resubmit. If the error says the farmID (ex. Smith Farm) is already in use by another user, you will have to select another farmID to use (ex. JSmith Farm). |
| 2. | Input the MEASUREMENT DATE the data was collected. |
| 3. | SELECT if you want your data to be private (default) or public. |
| 4. | Click SUBMIT (It may take some time for the input page to load, please be patient). If you receive a request to allow JAVA to run on this page or some other similar message about JAVA, please allow or accept. If you receive an error message in red that states "Data already exists in the database" you will have to use the EDIT DATA feature to change any data for that date and farm combination. |
| 5. | Input the PADDOCK and DRY MATTER (Lbs/Acre) into the table and make appropriate changes to the species information. Cool Season is the default species type and will automatically be inserted into the database if Warm Season is not selected in its place. Paddock, Dry Matter and Species are required for all new data. The acres field is optional but can offer some more management tools if entered. |
| 6. | VALIDATE your data. This is a very important step prior to submitting your data. This feature will check the dry matter table for any missed fields or incorrect data types. After pressing the VALIDATE TABLE button you will receive a message via a popup window that states if there are problems with the data or if it is ready to be submitted. You may have to validate the table several times before you get the message that it is ready to be submitted. If you skip this step and submit data that is not valid you will have to retype all of the data to enter it into the database correctly. |
| 7. | Input the optional fields found below the data grid. |
| 8. | Click SUBMIT |
| View Reports | |

| Edit Data (You can only edit data for your own farm's.) | |
| You must select all three search fields to edit data. | |

| 4. | Once you have selected the appropriate fields , click the EDIT DATA button.
The EDIT page is similar to the add new data page so it may take a little longer to load.

| 4. | Make changes to your data. Be sure to VALIDATE your data. |
| 5. | Click the SUBMIT button to input the changed data and to view the new report. You also have the option to DELETE the ENTIRE RECORD. This will completely remove all information for this farm on this date from the database. To view the data again it would have to be completely re-entered as though it were new data. |
