PlSci 4500/7500 - Theory and Concepts of Plant Pathology
(3 credit hours)
To provide information on disease development caused by fungi, nematodes,
bacteria, and viruses in plant populations; possible control strategies
combined with training in retrieving and critically reviewing research
information. Prerequisites: 5 hours biological sciences, junior, senior
or graduate standing. Instructors: Drs. Jim English, Jim Schoelz, and
Melissa G. Mitchum.
PlSci 4510/7510 - Introductory
Plant Pathology Laboratory (2 credit hours)
Complements Plant Pathology 4500/7500 through laboratory study of pathogens,
disease and life cycles, diagnosis, and method of disease control for
agronomic, ornamental and woody plants. Prerequisites: PL PTH 4500/7500
or concurrently. Fall semester. Instructors: Drs. Jim English, Jim Schoelz,
and Melissa G. Mitchum.
PlSci 8520 - Nematode - Plant Interactions (3 credit hours)
Detailed study of diseases caused by plant-parasitic nematodes. The
biology, morphology, and interactions with host plants will be integrated
into biologically and economically feasible management strategies. Prerequisites:
PL PTH 4500/7500 and 4510/7510. Instructor: Dr. Melissa G. Mitchum
