Responsibilities:

Angie Kennon is primarily responsible for production of transgenic maize. She is also helping with production of transgenic soybean and Arabidopsis plants as needed. These include plant and bacterial medium preparation, embryo isolation, explant preparation, DNA delivery via biolistic- or Agrobacterium-mediated approaches, culture initiation and maintenance, maize seedling transplanting, record keeping and data collection. Kennon is responsible for lab inventory, supervising student lab assistants, and providing technical training in maize and Arabidopsis tissue culture and transformation and use of gene gun.

In addition, she conducts certain directed experiments for improvement of transformation procedures and frequency. Her molecular cloning work includes plant and bacterial DNA preparation, plasmid manipulations, PCR and Southern blot analysis.
