Recent Accomplishments

Aug. 2010: Priya Voothuluru received the Best Student Paper Award for her talk "Abscisic Acid and Apoplastic Reactive Oxygen Species: Regulators of Root Growth at Low Water Potentials," which was presented at a symposium on "Root Growth" at the 37th Annual Meeting of the Plant Growth Regulation Society of America in Portland, Oregon, August 8-12.

Oct. 2009: Priya Voothuluru was appointed as the graduate student representative on the Membership Committee of the American Society of Plant Biologists.

April 2009: Priya Voothuluru received a travel award of $1,000 from the Division of Plant Sciences to attend the meeting “ROS in Plants 2009”, to be held in Helsinki, Finland, in July 2009

Feb. 2009: Priya Voothuluru and Catherine Espinoza received travel awards from the American Society of Plant Biologists to attend the society’s annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, July 2009

Dec. 2008: Priya Voothuluru was selected as a Student Ambassador by the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB). The ASPB established the Student Ambassador Program to help promote plant biology at the graduate level, promote the benefits of belonging to a professional society for graduate students, and to provide an effective voice for graduate students in the operations and governance of ASPB. Priya is one of fifteen students selected nationwide.

April 2008: Bob Sharp received the Frederick B. Mumford Outstanding Faculty Award, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, University of Missouri, Columbia

Oct. 2007: Bob Sharp was elected as Fellow, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

June 2007: Mary LeNoble Bondra was appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Experimental Botany
